Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of this beautiful woman. My heart has been so heavy, since hearing of her passing. Our friendship goes back 34 years at Hopkins Street School. We’ve remained friends every since. I’m so happy that we last spoke about 2 weeks ago. We laughed and talked about old times. She loved my family and was so proud of my grandkids and their achievements. Lunell loved kids, it was unfortunate she had none of her own. She raised many though, in and out of her classroom. She was a teaching legend!! None better, and I will remember her for so many things. I will most remember her loyal friendship to me, and those she loved. I will remember how dedicated she was to her mom Lu. She loved that woman with her whole heart. I have consolation in knowing, she reunited with her mom. Rest in peace, my dear friend! I will never forget you, and will always love you.
To the family of Lounell Hughes, my heartfelt thoughts are with you at this time. Lounell and I went to elementary and Junior high school together. We went to the same Church and sang in the same choir together in Verona Mississippi. She was my childhood friend. Rest In Peace Lounell. May the God of all comfort keep the family in his loving care.
I was so sorry to hear the passing of Lunell Hughes. She was a wonderful God fearing person. She was a great teacher and loved all children. I worked with her many years in the Milwaukee Public School System. She will truly be missed. Rest in Peace Lunell.
Our hearts go out to the family of our beloved line sister, Lounell Partlow Hughes. We will always remember the joyous memories that we were privileged to have in knowing Lounell. It was about 55 years ago, when nineteen young ladies pledged their lives to become a part of our illustrious sisterhood, Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. It was at Lane College, that we became to be friends and sisters. Being away from home for the first time, we had to learn how to live in different surroundings with other people. In other words,” Dorm life on Cleaves Hall and Smith Hall.
Please know that we share in your pain and sorrow and pay our final respect to our best friend and sister, Lounell. Hold tight to the memories for comfort, lean on family and friends for strength, and always remember how much you are loved.
Sincerely,
Mighty Nineteen
